This thing works great, in the dark. So how hard are these screens to see if not inside a cabin. Do the screens darken with age or are they just old technology. I love the readout on this thing its just that covering it and my self in shade to see it kind of takes up the time I am supposed to be fishing. Also it is rather large but thats OK I just put it in where the wife used to take up space. Any imput appreciated.

I'm not sure if that model had a shade shield avaliable or not. Most of the Furuno CRT screens came with a shade that would attach to the monitor in various ways. It would shade out most of the daylight to make viewing easier. If they're not avaliable thru Furuno maybe you could fabricate one out of something. Might look like #### but if it does the job....... I would first contact Furuno and see if something is avaliable.

It has a shade sheild but I guess it needs something much bigger, like a tube. Are these thiings strickly for inside a cabin? Thanks you for your reply.

Well....I've said it before, daytime viewing is terrible, even in a closed cabin they can be hard to see depending on the angle of the sunlight. A tube to view thru would be a great help or only fish at night. :%
