Re: Funny Boat launch On You Tube
When I was 14 I started working at the boat harbor in Seward, Alaska, and worked there until 1970. Sometimes I ran the boatlaunch, sometimes I ran the gas dock. Both were a never ending source of of humor, mixed with inexperience and just plain stupidity. Forgotten parking brakes (leading to a launch of vehicle, trailer and sunken boat), pickups left in neutral (same result as previous note), extremely interesting high speed docking tecniques (leading to the opportunity to tie up your boat ON the center of the main dock:redface
, boats being launched while still secured (completely) to trailers, and the ever popular, end of the day sideshow of drunk guys reloading the boats and driving off before they were secured on the trailer only to have an unexpected re-launch in the parking lot. I also noted that Amphicars did not do well in Alaskan waters. One was used by KENI Radio to simulcast the Silver Salmon Derby, and darned if it didn't sink (Yep, DJ's onboard screaming like schoolgirls for the Coast Guard
) , and the chop was only about 15' high... whooda thunk! Shoulda put the top up, I guess, huh?
