I have a question does anyone have a full enclosure on a pontoon? There is a guy around here that has some for 500 bucks but it looks like its just piled in his garage and he states that we would have to put it all together to see if it would work and if its all there. is 500 bucks too much? he said he doesnt have a picture of what it looks like assembled but the pictures show alot of aluminium poles and the canvis stacked in a corner. I wonder if I should even waste my time going through it or if they are pretty reasonable new? Im assuming from what ive gathered that its like a tent? but covers the entire boat.

Re: Full enclosures

A quality full-enclosure for a 24 footer using Sunbrella material will run about 4 grand here in Florida. I permanently enclosed the back half of my boat and the front Sunbrella enclosure cost 2 grand about 2 years ago.

Anything other that Sunbrella and you are throwing your money away.

Re: Full enclosures

A true camper encloser is like a bimini top and can be folded when not in use, the thing this guy has sounds kind of cobbled together and a real pain to get up/down.

Take a look at it and see what you think ,the price is crazy good, if it looks like something you would want to mess with go for it.

I built a camper top for my boat, started with an 8' bimini and added sides, front and back with windows all around adn zippers on the corners, it takes 5 minutes to get it completely up/down and you can put down 1,2,3 or all 4 sides.

Makes it really nice here in Indiana, the weather starts to go south around the end of September and the top keeps me on the water till late November.

I'd start looking at new ones (like here in iboats) so you have an idea of cost and what a good one looks like.

You can also look at your manufacturers website, I bet they sell them just for your boat. That's probably the high end price too.

Ever think if trying to run down a local upholstry shop? You could get a custom enclosure if you had any special needs.

Google is a wonderful tool too!

Re: Full enclosures

Great price, but I would be shocked if it fit your boat without a lot of modifications. Most full enclosures I have seen are custom built for the boat and for the owner's preferences and I have never seen 2 exactly alike. I'd rather spend $500 than $4,000 any day, but I would hate to spend $500 for something I never used because it was just not right for my boat. I suppose there is a chance you could buy it and get a canvas shop to do some modifications to make it work. That might save you some money, or it might cost you more in the end for an inferior enclosure. If it's close by you could go look at it but I would not have high hopes. Good luck.

Re: Full enclosures

Yea I emailed the guy and asked him to send pictures of what it looked like on a boat and he had no idea and all the poles are mixed up so sounds kinda shady. By the way was out today and every time the boat sat for an hour it would put out a nice pee stream but after running a while it would get less and less I don't know a ton about this is this normal?

The pee hole on the right side as your looking at the motor right below the motor lid I wonder if i should just replace the impeller or if I can do it myself
