I have a 1985 Mercruiser MR 200. The fuel/ water separator is located on the front stbd side of the engine beneath the circuit breaker. Is this the 'normal' location for this and would there be any issues with locating it on the side wall of the bilge near the fuel pump?

Re: Fuel/ Water Separator

install it wherever you like. common sense says under a circuit breaker probably not the best place for it, especially if your changing the filter with the battery still connected.

for your new location, if there's no metal connection from the filter bracket to the engine, or to the negative side of the battery, then a grounding wire going from the filter bracket to any suitable ground is a good idea but not absolutely necessary.

Thanks, it would make that side of the engine less cluttered. I looked in my manual and it seeemed that's where it was located in the pic. Good comment on the ground. Thanks again.
