Hello. I have a 2003 Yamaha 115 HP outboard on my 2003 Hurricane Fundeck. Can anyone tell me what a good model fuel/water separator to buy for this engine would be. Also, what is the price range of these, and are they difficult to install for a novice? Finally, if I use ethanol free gas, do I still need one of these in salt water?

Re: fuel/water separator

A fuel/water separater filter is the best preventive maintenance item yet, I use the Walmart unit($27), very easy, 2 screw installation. I unscrew cartridge, dump it and re-insatll it, so far works great! I do keep a new cartridge(Walmart $7) in the boat so I'll have it when the time comes. Yamaha and Racor(filters are their business) make several units that cost a good bit more and are probably better for certain applications, you may want to research them before deciding which to purchase. Good Luck!
