Another noob question. When you are out on the water do I open the vent on the tank or does it run from a vacuum with it closed?

It has to be vented(open) to run properly, otherwise the engine cannot get fuel.

lol I feel like such a dumb............ I thought it needed to be closed to hold a vacuum. Maybe that's why my carbs doesn't seem to be getting fuel.
So what is the vent cap for if it doesn't need to be closed?

Oh I see now. So open when using, close when not. I'm sorry for a question that I should have known. Its hard to learn the little things I need to learn when I know no one that boats. I'm running blind at this. But thanks to this great site I'm learning.
