Began having an intermittent problem with my one year old boat, engine running fine then dies like out of fuel, pump primer bulb and engine fires up. Began happening more often, hooked up a portable 3 gallon tank last week and ran 2 gallons through it with no problem. Today bypassed the "gas fume canister" and added a separate tank vent line, ran for 3 hours no problem. Also, while fueling boat had to pump in slowly, until bypassing canister, fueled it this morning with no problem. Anyone else with the new EPA require fuel system having similar problems? Thanks in advance.

Sure sounds like a venting issue. I didn't even know they installed a fume canisters on boats. That's how long ago I've looked at new boats and engines... Have you removed the fume canister to see if it is plugged? That would be my first look see...

I would never/that often remove an EPA required fume canister, but to troubleshoot my problem I put a tee into the vent off the tank and ran a 3/8 fuel line, marine rated, to my transom. My rig is a 2014 with F90 Yamaha, I was desperate!!!! I have read posts on other sites about slow fueling at the pump, tank has to vent! Go Hillary, solar powered boats in our future adgjf;akhgwpoiehalsdkg

Oh yeah, if anyone is interested in what a marine fuel system looks like today, google IMAGES of "Atwood fuel system". Look at the diagram with the carbon canister.
