My 1990 60 hp. evinrude was starving for fuel. My mechanic took the anti-siphon ball out of the fuel tank connection. Is there any potential problems that may occur with doing this? I've been thinking about buying a new plastic vented portable tank and primer bulb. My current tank does not have a vent. Any suggestions?

Good idea on the tank. It will have everything you need... The anti-syphon valve is to prevent fuel spills, should you rupture the fuel line or have an accident that may cause this. Why not just install a new valve, though? They are cheap..

The tank that is on my pontoon is the original tank and it looks really bad. I found some pretty nice plastic tanks on the Overtons website for around $50.00. Like you said, the new tank will have everything I need. Would you suggest buying a new primer bulb and fuel line when I buy a new tank?
