Fuel spitting out of exhaust

I have a 1964 mercury 500. I noticed today there was some fuel spitting from the exhaust :confused: . Is this a big problem or something to be expected do to the age af the moter.

Hi Loueg<br />How do you know it was fuel? Did you get a little rainbow on the driveway? Or did you flush in front of the garage door and end up with spots? Check to see that the floats in the carb are fuctioning properly. Take a look at the plugs. Are they real black and gooy? Sounds like it my be just a little unburned oil, which is normal. It only takes a couple of drops to make a real pretty rainbow.
