Greetings all. Picked up a Hurricane deckboat a few weeks back & I have a few odds & ends that need to be tidied up. One is the sending unit. The gauge read is dead & I can see a red wire clearly labeled 'fuel send', but it's not hooked up. Problem is I'm not sure where to attach it. It looks like there might be a missing pole just north of the ground, but can't say for sure. Below are a few pics. Let me know what you make of it. Thanks

That sending unit looks like a mechanical unit with no electrical hookup. The ground is there for safety purposes only, if I'm right.

Ayuh,... It sure Appears that you Are Right,...

'n I donno's that's a Ground wire, or a Bonding wire, which is sorta the same, but not,....
The entire fuel system needs to be Bonded to the block, 'n hull,...
Though I do see a green wire in there, which is a Bondin' wire color,...

Hmmm... That would be odd. Wonder if the boat never came with an electric sending unit, or the PO went through the trouble of replacing with a mechanical.

Yes a bondo, er, bonding wire, not a ground.

I'm not sure if this helps as you're getting responses from all the members I would welcome responses from; there are a few members from the Hurricane Owners forum that had fuel sender issues with a similar sender. It seems some models of earlier Hurricane models used conversion capsules to operate remote fuel gauges. Although your picture shows just a gauge, maybe it had something similar to this from Moeller Marine that iboats sells:

Moeller Conversion Capsule 035760-10

Sure looks like someone has added that sending unit in place of the original fuel sender. The pink wire normally connects to a center stud held with a nut. What year and model is the boat?

You guys are indeed correct. Talked to the PO & it turns he replaced with a mechanical. Thanks for the quick resolve.

Next item I'll post on will be the live well. Hopefully that pump won't be mechanical:)
