Fuel regulator

I have a 2008 mercury 25 hp. 4 stroke efi. My fuel regulator vacum hose is connected to regulator, other end of hose is just laying on bottom of cowl. I looked everwhere there is nowhere it could have come off from. Is it suppose to be not connected to anything? Anyone familiar with this ?

Not entirely sure about your particular model specifically…but I know that some models perhaps around this era of mercury…there is a vent device type arrangement on top of (or close by) the fuel module/pump assembly. This has an open ended pipe coming from it that then usually or likely heads towards a drain hole or fitting in the bottom of the lower cowl section. Are you sure it’s not something like this you might be looking at ?
