fuel r spark? 1975 85 hp merc

before it didnt have to good a spark..ok i put wires on my motor.. and now if i take one off it has no effect but it sparks about 1 inch away nice spark it seems.. i tried to spray some fuel in the bottom carb seems to make it run better if i spray alot while running it.. also idles high... any help on this on maybe take bottom carb back off and check it?

Sounds like maybe carb problem. redo both carbs--especially if you did not soak them in a good carb cleaner. pay special attention to needle ans seat and float adjustments. Also do a complete link and sync and recheck your throttle shift mechanism adjustments at the motor. Good luck.
