I have to get a new fuel pump for my 64 9.5 seahorse.I have been looking at various online stores, including this one and there seem to be a bewildering selection of prices and part #'s for what is basically the same pump.I mean the little square black plastic jobs.they all fit almost all of the older motors but the prices range from $47ish on here to nearly $100 elsewhere. My question is what are the differences in all these different #'s seeing as they all fit? Help, wise ones.

PS also ,are the kits to fix them available from iboats?

Well, I replaced a fuel pump on an old 9.5 a while back and I spent about $49.95 on it. I think the best thing to do is, take your old one in to your local marine supply and match it up to a new one. The number I'm getting is 379452 for the fuel pump and 303615 for the gasket. Write these two numbers down and take them to the nearest OMC dealer and tell them what you need.

There are no kits for these, because they are not rebuildable. The earlier 10hp's came with rebuildable fuel pumps, but the 9.5's didn't.
Also, you'll find a complete parts list here for your entire engine here.

Actually, if it still has the original pump, OMC said you couldn't rebuild them. However, yes there is an aftermarket kit, 18-7820 here at iboats that will do the job.

Numerous pump changes have occured since 1964, some will fit and some won't. As for the current one, yes it is the small square pump. The thing to watch out for on the square pump is the hose nipple orientation. If you can get it in there (right side upand connected and still get the hood on without kinking the hoses, it will work. Note that the inlet fitting can be repositioned in any of four postions, but the outlet fitting can't. Well, actually it can, but you absolutely must have the instructions and follow them to the letter. Seems silly to buy a new pump and tear it apart though.
