Fuel Pump??

This question if for a 1996 4.3LX with a 4BBL and thunderbolt ignition. I didn't use the boat for about a week, went to start and found that I wasn't getting fuel to carb. I pulled the supply line off of the tank and was able to get it started using an external source. Once started i replaced the line on the tank and everything worked fine. I've heard that the fuel pumps(electric) for this year were suspect or of bad design. I'm wondering if there's a test I can do to see that the pump actually has the draw it's supposed to. It seems that after sitting for some time the entire system needs to be primed but the existing pump isn't getting the job done. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure about your system But most electric fuel pumps systems need a small amount of oil pressure maybe your sensor is going bad
