1980 mariner outboard 80 hp.

Problem: spitting gas from carbs and exhaust. New carbs/floats ok/fuel pump diaphram ok.

Question: Thinking excess fuel pressure is the culprit. How do i adjust/regulate the fuel pressure?

Thanks.

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure ?'s

Have yet to see an outboard that NEEDED fuel pressure regulation.

Spitting from carbs is somewhat normal to a small extent. Also on 2 stroke motors a small amount of unburned gas and oil from exhuast at idle speed(s) is somewhat normal.

If the carbs are dumping raw fuel and dribbling all over the place it's time to remove them and clean or replace the needle/seats.

If you are experiencing a lot of sprayback out of one carb it might indicate bad reeds. This will also be evident as a loss of power/ poor idle/ stalling because that cylinder isn't running well, if at all.
