Fuel pump hot at idle speed. Blowing fuel pump relay.

I have a 2006 Volvo Pentax Gxi-g. Fuel pump relay failing and high pressure fuel pump heating up at low rpm. Cools underway and no problems. Only happens at idle speeds. Been through 12 relays, just replaced entire fuel cell $850 and still the problem exist. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Do these tests, I would bet you have something plugged up in the fuel system, or an air leak in the suction side.

A mechanic i am working with truly believes it is electrical. Too much voltage going to high pressure pump. Any ideas on this?

Why didn't he check it with a volt meter and find out for sure ????????

Basically check the voltage at the alternator with the engine running around idle rpm. The fuel pump isn't going to see more voltage than the alternator puts out.
