Motor would stall unless I kept pumping the fuel bulb. All hoses are air-tight; fuel bulb sucks gas out of the tank; the fuel line is patent.
I decided to overhaul the fuel pump using the Evinrude repair kit. While disassembling the fuel pump two springs, discs, and retainers fell out. I think I figured out how they are supposed to go back in, but it seems like one squeeze of the fuel bulb could pop them out of place. In fact, one of the retainers has a couple of tabs missing and seems loose (see photo).
My Evinrude manual and exploded parts view does not show the kind of detail that I need to double check my installation.
(1) Does anyone know of a diagram which will help confirm my placement of these springs, discs, and retainers?
(2) Is the retainer in the photo unusable because of the missing tabs? If so, where can I get a new one? If no new ones are available, can this retainer be glued in place?
Thanks for any help!
