I bought a 1959 Johnson 35 HP Super Seahorse out board from a guy for $150. Put it on my old boat and went fishing. The motor was running great for about 2 hours and then it stopped running. I notice that there was no fuel in the fuel filter so I pumped the primer pump in the fuel line from the tank and fuel came out of a port on the upper right of the carb please see photo IMG_0416.jpg I tried to draw a circle around the port fuel comes out when I pump the primer.

any help would be appreciated

It sounds like you may have a float issue. The cork floats in those carbs never were any good and I have seen a lot of them that like to flood. I would rebuild the carb and try and get a plastic float. It would be a good piece of mind to rebuild the fuel pump too.

Thanks for the reply! Any clue where I can find a carb kit for this old motor.

Thanks! My local dealers here in Oregon only have books that go back to the 60s. And they won't work on anything older than 1980.
