I have an 85hp that floods badly if I pump the primer ball more then once. If I continue to pump the ball It will never get hard and fuel just leaks out of the carbs. Once the engine is running it runs great. At the end of the day the remainder of fuel in the carbs leaks down the side of the engine in a visible oily sludge. Im planning on rebuilding both carbs what else should I check into before I place an order for parts? Thanks.

Your problem is indeed the carburetors, clean and rebuld them. Set the floats as follows.

(Carburetor Float Setting)
(J. Reeves)

With the carburetor body held upside down, the float being viewed from the side, adjust the float so that the free end of the float (the end opposite the hinge pin) is ever so slightly higher (just ever so slightly off level) than the other end. And when viewed from the end, make sure it is not cocked.
