Fuel pressure

So..I thought I had a thread going on this....my boat sat for almost 3 years...with varying ages of fuel in it. So, was able to go to the ramp finally but it would not run. I put a valve on the fuel rail with a line into a bottle- hit the key and probably had 50% water and a some crap but mainly water. I cycled several times and it seemed to get better. New fuel filter, fuel water separator and it seemed to want to run- took another fuel sample and did not look good- had treated it with stuff to eat the water up but still there. Killed my starter. Just replaced my starter...tries to start...so, after a bunch of cranking, stumbling but not starting. To the point of my post..I took the cap off my fuel rail and pushed it in and there was no pressure in the rail. With all that cranking I would thought there would be? What I did not try was turning the key and not cranking it for fuel pressure...so should there have been anyway? I ended up pumping 75 gallons of fuel out of the tank to get all of it gone and put about 25 gallons or so in...it's on the trailer and hooked up to my truck..does lean forward, maybe its not getting the fuel or the new fuel filter and water separator are clogged up from my second attempt before I pumped out the tank? I need to put it back in storage tomorrow- I will take it off the truck tonight so the fuel goes to the back of the tank- I will turn the key and see if it does pressurize. I pulled one plug and it's kind of fouled looking but not bad. Just looking for some thoughts..

Add fuel inside the fuel filter before turning the key on.

I have a 350 mpi fuel injected with an electric fuel pump. I had changed the plugs , rotor and cap before its "rest" and it ran great...

.it's on the trailer and hooked up to my truck..does lean forward,

This could be the issue, tank pickup is in the rear

Fill as FT mentioned, then no need to crank just cycle key until fuel shows up without air. Fuel pressure gauge with drain tube is good for this, but can be done with screw driver

I'll hit the key and see if I have pressure before I crank- boat is off the hitch and get the fuel to the back of the tank. I so need to get this boat back on the water...I'll order new filters...beyond that it may be time to have someone look at it. A buddy suggested the fuel pump may have have frozen up on it..350 mpi with electric pump.

When key is turned ON, should hear the pump run for a couple seconds

It's hard to tell- I think my tabs also raise too which makes a heck of a racket- I have a fitting with a hose I can attach to the valve and confirm whether fuel is getting to the rail. How do I check that plug for power- I don't see any breakers tripping..also when I got it all back together, trim is not responding as well. When the starter went it made some sounds like something shorting. The wire that attaches on the motor side has a heavy fuse on it, hope that stopped anything going back into the motor. How do I check the trim pump for power? I had put a new handle on as it was bad and replaced the two selonoids and it was working great- new cylinders too but one is leaking.

The trim pump gets power from the starter post. Look for red wire feeding pump thru a fuse on the pump

Fuel pump is on port side behind the motor mount.
There are 3 fuses on top the motor and 2 relays. The Main power relay turns ON and sends power to FP and motor/ECM

Sitting for 3 years, the stuff in the tank was reduced to goo

Did you clean out the tank after pumping it out? If not, the 25 gallons of fresh fuel just rehydrated the goo

There is no way to get to the 100 gallon tank. Some access through the fuel sender plate but the generator sits on to p of that..

Could pick up a cheap 12V pump. Connect another filter to tank and then to pump. Suck out all the fuel.

Dump 10 gals fresh back in. Place exit gas line from new pump to tank fill. Let it run and when it starts slowing down change filter and keep going tell its good and clean
