Fuel Pressure regulator 4.3

I have a 4.3 GXI-E it is a 2006 motor, the boat shop said the fuel pressure regulator is bad and that is why it is not starting but no one in the state has the part, they all have to order. I have heard a friend of mine that told me that if you went back 10 yrs on a 4.3 Gm motor some parts are the same. I have once used an air idle control value that matched up just fine and had no problems. Has anyone else ever done this? If so do you thing the fuel pressure reg would match up and work correctly?

just i case any one else wanted to know about this issue. I found out that this part would not work it matched up ok by the PSI were different on the boat it was suppose to be 39psi and on the 1996 4.3 chevy it was set for 49psi. which would not have solved the problem the boat had because the fuel pressure was already to high that is what was causing the failed start. I have use an air bypass part before that worked fine, just be careful when doing something like this.
