Hello all

First off, I checked the collection of posts on Johnsons to see if I could find some info, but was unsuccessful. So .....

I seized up my 20 hp merc last week and am now using my old Johnson 20hp back-up outboard.

I went to http://www.marinshopen.se/ and it seems that my Johnson outboard is a 1976.

Can anyone verify this for me and let me know the proper fuel/oil mix ratio and the correct spark plug and gap?

Model: 20BA76D
Serial: C 17508

Thanks all. :)

Hi, fuel/oil should be 50/1, seems to be pretty standard ratio, I think your spark gap is .040, not positive though.

Mike :)

Gap your Champion plugs (don't have plug #)at .030", Chris. The .040" gap is for extended trolling or low speed operation.

Yes, your engine is a 1976 20hp, and yes, it uses a 50:1 mix.

Good luck. :)
