Does anyone know the size of the fuel lines for this motor? I need to replace them and I will be going to the store after work and I forgot the ones that I took off at home. I would really like to not have to go home to get them. TIA.

I waited to answer this because I was not positive of the answer, (and had hoped another more knowledgable party would step up). I have owned two 1500s. A 1976 that I sold and never worked on the fuel lines, and a 1977 that I now have, (and have gone through the fuel lines).

Chris1956 recently advised me to make sure the fuel inlet was 3/8" (which it was not), as the previous owner had switched it to a 1/4" fuel line, (far to small fer such a hungry beast). I then proceeded to change out the entire system to 3/8" which forced me to change most of the barbs et al, and use stainless hose clamps. (I used the 5/16" barbs on the lines in between the carbs, and tightened them with stainless hose clamps).

I would make sure the fuel line is 3/8" from the male fitting that you plug the fuel line from the tank into, (and the barb on it), through the fuel pump to the top carb, (I had to change the top of the fuel pump to a later model inline pump top so the inlet barb could be changed to 3/8).

The two fuel lines from the top to the middle and lower carbs were 5/16", (an educated guess not 100% positive), from the factory. I know my older (virgin) inlines: 1000 and 1250 were definately 5/16", but both of my 1500s had been werked on prior to my aquisition.

Hope the guess I gave ya helps. JR

Well, you are certainly one of the few guys that I tend to "want" to answer my questions as you always give knowledgeable answers/advice. I think I will go ahead and purchase a length of 3/8" and 5/16" along with the hose clamps for both sizes. Any other tidbits while im at it?

I have rebuilt carbs, fuel pump, water pump and housing, new drive shaft seals, new water jacket gasket, plugs, coil wire, stator, rectifier, drain/fill plug seals and a can of phantom black paint.

Would you suggest anything else while im at it? Before all of this I had a cyl that was only 110# instead of the 150# that the rest were. THen when running it I saw water leaking out of the low cyl spark plug hole hence the water jacket gasket replacement.

I would have thought the low cornpression was due to another issue, as the 1976 1500 I had also had some waterjacket leaks around the plugs that didn't effect the cornpression at all. I cured the leaks with JB weld prior to a total tear down and rebuild (that I had to do the following season).

Did you get the low cylinder up to 150? I like to decarb inlines from time to time and if you still have a low cylinder I would try that as well. I hope you have 6 @ 150 since you have done so much werk. JR
