Fuel line question

We just recently bought our first boat and have a few questions: We are having problems keeping the motor going. (It sat for about 10 months due to a crack in the back of boat) It takes a bit to start but as soon as you put it in gear, it dies. We have drained all the gas-thinking it might be bad. but we noticed that the connection line that connects to the motor from the tank seems to not seal and squirt gas when the bulb is pumped. We have tried to see if that part comes off and can be replaced but it is pretty intact to the line. Does anyone know what this connector is called and where to get one?? And is this is a simple fix or should we leave it to the professionals??

It is a Evinrude 90h VRO

Leaking gas would not usually stall it but it should be fixed. If it sat for 10 months with untreated fuel in the carb(s) I would clean the carbs. As the gas gums up over time and clogs jets... In the future put stabilizer in it for storage.

Almost all dealers carry a wide variety of connectors, and you can probably find them here in the iboats online store. Anyway I agree with samo_ott about fixing asap and also cleaning the carbs. But the best thing you could do would be start with the basics and make sure you have compression spark and fuel. Then it amounts to timing issues.

Get a new line with connectors, clean and rebuild the carbs and try again.
