Fuel Line Question

The engine is a 1998 Honda 130 hp 4 stroke. I replaced the old Honda fuel line assembly with a new one. New male and female ends for the fuel line quick connect came with the primer bulb and hoses. When the quick connect parts are brought together there is a 1/16" gap. Is this normal? Will this allow air to enter the fuel line? Or, is there a rubber gasket that seals the gap?

Re: Fuel Line Question

Are those connectors genuine Honda? If not I would replace them. To test the ones you got put a length of hose on each nozzle. Fold one hose and clamp it with a cable tie. Submerge in a glass jar of petrol and put some air in to the other end of hose.Watch for air bubbles.

Re: Fuel Line Question

I should have taken pictures of the other side.

They are genuine Honda parts.

I will test them they way you suggest. Does it make a difference if I use water instead of gasoline?

Re: Fuel Line Question

Follow up.

I tlaked to a master tech at Honda. The space is normal, and there is no gasket to fill the gap.

I replaced the old with the new today.

Here are pictures of the old.

FWIW the old connectors were manufactured by Kei Hin in Japan.
