Clipped on to one of the fuel lines near the VRO/Fuel Pump is a Y shaped plastic yellow device. Any ideas what this might be for? It easily unclips from the hose but I have not been able to fiqure out what it does. Looked in Owners Manual but can find no reference to it. I have seen this on other Johnson/Evinrude motors of that era.

It's a plug for the oil pump hose should you ever need to remove the motor from the boat or disconnect the tank for any reason.

So is it suitable for permanently plugging the oil line going to to VRO2 pump as I plan on disconnecting and disabling mine this weekend.

the rubber cap is not suitable for the pump in my opinion. I see many of them cracked from age alone. Use a good piece of fuel line with a bolt or steel ball inserted.
