I had an interesting find last month when I changed the fuel filter on my 2005 Nissan NSF18B2. I do this annually and never really paid much attention to it except this time I decided to try and shine a light through the translucent white filter. Much to my surprise I couldn't see any light through it, basically plugged almost solid with material. So I cut it open carefully with a hack saw and I found all these thin hard brownish broken up pieces of what looked like tubing. I had no idea what it was and couldn't come up with a logical explanation.
Until today that is when I stumbled across some pictures and posts on various message boards about the mercury silver fuel line coming apart internally. I've had this exact same hose and primer bulb on my boat for 10 YEARS now. I guess I am very lucky this circumstance didn't strand me on the water. Actually I have had no running concerns in several years now.
Now I am really looking forward to buying a new hose and bulb assembly but I have no idea which one I need for my boat/engine. I am also not sure which fuel line connector my engine takes. I could probably reuse the original fuel line connector on the engine (it's only held together by a ziptie) but I don't know what size line to look for. Anyone have any idea?
