i took the carbs apart on my 1986 85 hp force cleaned them and replaced the inlet valve needle on all and reset the float one,now the ball doesnt get hard when you prime it and fuel leaks out the small hole on the the side(Upper part of the caarb).it will start but after it runs for a couple seconds the fuel starts to leak out. i think its just the top one doing it but i wont be able to tell until i can fix it . anythoughts ?? valve needle not seating ??

It's sometimes a common problem to put the floats in upside down. It sounds like your inlet neddle isn't seating. Just a thought.

Getdanet,

I think ARA hit it on the nose. For whatever reason your float needle is not stopping the inflow of fuel.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

i pulled the carb off to inspect and found a pc of plastic (from where i dont know ) lodged in the rubber needle seat .I removed it, put the carb on and it fired up right away and did not leak. thanks
