hey guys i am new here and pretty new to boating as well, hope you guys can help. when i run the motor for a couple of minutes after i shut it down fuel leaks from the motor. it happens worse when i tilt it up. i opened the cover and it looks like it is coming from the carbs. i am pretty sure this should not happen and just hope that i dont have to replace the carbs. my motor is a 88 mercury 115hp it is an inline 6. thanks in advance. mark

Probably time to rebuild those carbs. My '86 Mercury Black Max 150 was doing the same thing at the end of last season. I rebuilt mine this spring and that solved the problem. The good thing is carb rebuild kits are pretty cheap. Good luck.

bbb

That carb kit should come with gaskets and a new needle at least. After you install the components and adjust your floats you should be leak free.

You said you have a little mechanical experience, that should be enough to rebuild an outboard carb. They are pretty simple, but try and do one at a time and take your time.
