Hi folks,
New to this forum, but not new to googling all my boat questions... which leads me to my inquiry.
My 14 Lund Rebel 1650 sits on one of those floating docks during the season (so it has some angle to it, no more than if left on a trailer). Unfortunately, this year, she got little use.
Upon doing the winterization, I noticed quite a bit of fuel mixed with typical minor water in the hull (plug opening sits 1/2" above the true bottom edge, obviously). It LOOKS like the gasket at the pump might be failing (after cleaning up and running blowers overnight, gasket still looked "wet"). What didn't spill out of the plug opening during cleaning was hand-pumped out od the hull. Other than the PITA that is shifting the tank fore or aft to get to the gasket, my bigger concern is around the plug.
The sealant on the inner weld (of the plug) appears to have been ate up by the gas. And now I have this peculiar arch- shaped stain visible on the exterior of the transom.
Any ideas? (Pics attached) Is the tank being full, with angle of rest, affecting the gasket? Did gas seep into the transom? I'd appreciate any insight, as it'll be a while before I can get it to the dealer.
Thanks!
