fuel issue

I have an 2000 Johnson 115... The other day, I went to take it out and as I was taking it down the river.. it started to stall. As long as my freind pumped the ball it would continue to run.. but then the no oil light would come one.. I have VRO.. I think it might be the fuel pump and in turn the sensor is saying I have no oil, because no fuel is being pumped? Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks in advance...

I believe you may be right. If correct, there are a few options available for you.

Sounds like fuel pump to me !!!!

New fuel / oil mixing pump.
Change to premix instead of the VRO (I did this about a month ago)
Dont know if your motor has a rebuildable pump or not. Someone will let you know on that one shortly I am sure.

Was the switch hard to accomplish? did you do it yourself?

It is extremely easy. Check out the FAQ for instructions. It is one option.

Is it tough to change the Fuel/Oil mix pump? Or is it much too expensive to even try.. better to just get rid of the VRO?

Some people really like the VRO system and stick with it
Some people go immediately to premix as that is their preference.
I went to premix because a replacement oil mixing pump was $508 compared to the $82 dollars for an equivalent premix pump.
I could have got an aftermarket one for $56 (premix)

The job itself is easy to do in my opinion. You must make certain that you have all the straight fuel out of the system though if you are going premix before you fire it up.

This has been so helpful.. It turns out I have a 60 Degree engine and not the 90 degree.. As a result.. I am being told that I have not choice except to stick with the VRO... or another version that is only $40 less anyway.. For that I might as well just have to stick to it.. Damn.. oh well.. hope that is the problem... if not then I just spent $360 for nothing.. lol.. my luck
