1989 3-cyl 80hp OC163865

Had problems with this motor in June, and replaced all the fuel lines and the primer bulb, rebuilt the fuel pump and carbs, and installed a new fuel filter. The motor has run well for the last few weeks but on the last couple trips out bogged down some and at one point refused to put the boat on a plane. I pulled the plugs on the water--looked like #1 and #3 were fouling. After tinkering around a bit it suddenly worked fine. Later, it cut out somewhat at WOT--shut it down, looked it over (did nothing), started it back up, and it did fine. What the heck?

Looking it over today, I noticed the oil line from the oil pump to the fuel pump is full of gas, although with a green tint to it. What the heck! It uses oil, and stays a bit on the smoky side, so it seems like it's getting enough oil. There don't appear to be any major leaks anywhere.

I'm going to disassemble and inspect the fuel pump tonight; what else could it be? One thing I'm not clear on is the brass fitting on the fuel pump face that deliver oil...is that a nozzle or something? Why would my fuel pump be blowing fuel down through that line?

Thanks for any input you might have!
