Fuel Gauge Wiring

Gauge stopped working with the symptom being it reads dead empty. I took out the sender, I get 30-230 ohms resistance. Close enough right?

I disconnect the molex conn under the console, 30-230 there also between the pink and black. Hmmm, the ground wire goes into the male side of the connection but there is no connector for it in the female side. I see no wires or jumpers laying around loose. The ground for the sender SHOULD be connected to battery ground somehow, correct? I don't want to blow up a seemingly working sending unit here!

Re: Fuel Gauge Wiring

Yes, the ground terminal on the sender must be grounded. Maybe this link will help:

web page
