I am considering....very carefully because of the price....whether to buy a fuel flow monitor. I want to be able to go 70 miles out with 140 gallons of fuel...troll all day and NOT worry about whether i can get back or not. Can you look at you consumption, your available fuel, then your gps and figure exactly when you need to turn for home? I dont want to be guessing out there. The price is really high though, does $300-$400 sound right for one 200hp outboard? Or is there a cheaper one that still does the job. Maybe im getting parinoid for nothing, but i dont know how far my Merc 200hp carbed saltwater will go on 140 gallons of fuel.

I use a Standard FF41. It fits a 2" hole and reads very accurate, within 1 gal on 70 so far. It was off about 12 gal on 70 from new but there is a calibration procedure that is real simple to do on the 1st tank ran thru it. The cost should be no more than 200$. No more guessing for me and no more fuel guages.

You have to do jus tlike you did for the temp guage and you have to cut into your fuel line for the sensor. Sensor must be on the out side of your fuel filter. Instructions are clear and easy.
