I need a fuel return "T" (see "Return Fuel Connection" pictured below) any ideas where I can find such a beast? I have tried West Marine and my local boat shop but no luck.

I was thinking of a plumbing supply service, but I was unsure what material I should use. I was thinking brass, or copper. Is brass or copper uscg approved?

Thanks in advance.

Howdy,

I'll show my complete ignorance of what you're doing :p

I'm not exactly sure why you need a fuel return on your fuel fill line.

Could you be a little more specific? Is this for an MPI setup?

Sure.
I have an aftermarket Holly FI system installed. When it was installed, it was installed with the fuel return going back to the fuel filter /water separator (see image below - red lines). For the most part that system works well, except if there is any problems with air in the circuit, then you are left with sputtering, stalling, hard starting, until the air works itself through the system and out the injectors. there is no other place for the air to naturally leave. I want to install it correctly, so air can returns to the tank, so I eliminate that problem.

I don't have a 3rd hose connection to return the fuel, so I have to go the "T" route.

Any other suggestions...

Re: Fuel fittings

That's one of the "Marine Commander 950 Multi?Point Kits"?

I don't want to know how much it cost:eek: (I would LOVE to put one of those on my 454!)

I don't think you can put the fuel return (or any fuel return) on a fuel filler in a marine tank. (USCG approval etc) If you don't care about that then use what ever works. I think Mercury always has the fuel return after the fuel filter, which puts it on the engine. I think you may be in unknown territory......Sorry, I'm not being much help.....

I don't know how much it cost either :) got it with the boat. , but it has worked really well. Can't compare power, but they say +30HP, but who really knows. I have to re-set the fuel map with the new 454, but that is the only big problem I have with it..

I would imagine it is (or at least was) USGC approved, since this is the marine version, and I cut these pictures (minus the red lines)straight form the instructions.

Re: Fuel fittings

If that is/was an approved marine system I wou ld think that doing the way they suggest would also be approved.

I wouldn't use plumbing fittings though. I think you should use (stainless) steel fittings.
