So doing due diligence I found the below thread/information about my fuel filter copied and pasted for reference. (see sig for boat info)

At oRiely $20 bucks but, can be had online for $12?or $8 from sierra..go figure??? anyhow what I am wondering is if there is an opinion between the Wix Filter 6 micron and the Sierra 10 micron?..of course you can say what you want about microns but, who really knows? I also found the stock filter to be cheaper also online?..thoughts?
I assume this is like starting an oil thread but, maybe since the below info was out there in 2005 maybe there are some changes out there?

More Importantly ----I have put 20 hours on boat and have had to change the filter now three times??I assume this is not the norm?

This is the filter I am thinking about buying http://www.teleflexsierra.com/18-77...--store_id.373--view_id.488132--viewcart.long
Below is quoted from someone else
I have a Volvo fuel filter in my 5.0L the Volvo part number is 3851218 (new is 3862228). Does anyone know the Fram or Tempo number that I can use? I am not always close to my Volvo dealer.
Last year TrailerBoats Magazine did tests on fuel filters. The Wix filters ranked right behind the Tempo filters. You should be able to find Wix in your neighborhood. http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlook...imageField.y=8 Looks like a Wix 33359 is a cross reference to your filter. I think you have O'Reilly's in your area. They carry Wix.
If you are talking about the short spin-on cannister filter that is right below the electric fuel pump, you can also use the OMC version of that filter, 502906, about $5, at any Johnson-EVinrude dealer.
If Seahorse is correct (and I think he is) that you can use OMC 502906, then you can also use Aqua Power 6051.

Ayuh,... I don't care which 1 ya use, but just an Fyi,...
Napa filters are rebadged Wix filters, 'n ya just drop the 1st digit from the part #s...
Napa will be 3359...

Thank You...for the advice.....maybe they will be cheaper local.....but, more than likely I will be buying a case of fuel filters since I am not sure if it is the trash in the Marina's fuel or possible trash in my fuel tank......at least until I can get around to pumping the tank and getting fuel from another location.....I got to thinking about it.....what keeps the marina fuel fresh? very little usage in the winter so it sits in tanks just like the gas in the boats tank and I know months of sitting is not good for fuel.....I might be getting double whammy on this deal....one from possible old fuel in boat and one from old fuel at marina?.....boat had 1/4 sitting in it since October for sure....possibly longer I can not verify though.

If you keep picking up trash in the fuel filter, you might be smart to pump the entire contents out through a filter and be done with it. While the tank is empty pull the sender and get a look inside to make sure it's beautiful in there.

That is probably going to happen today......have another thread with issue listed.....ugh.....on the up side I will have four filters for future changes.

With a clean tank how long should a filter last? guessing there are lots of variables based on the quality of the Marinas fuel......
One thing I did not mention was I removed the filter and dumped it then reinstalled it twice before the filter no longer worked......guessing this is ok to do ?

Ayuh,... Only if you wish to allow the crap to migrate through the fuelpump, 'n carb....

I wouldn't....

With a clean fuel system, the fuel filter gets changed once a year as normal service...
