FUEL FILTER-WHERE???

i've got a 72 merc 650, is there a filter or strainer in the pump???visualy i can't see anything on the outside of the block or in-line, what would be the harm if any, in putting a small motor type of in line filter on it????thanks, jim

No harm, Ridepate. Very good idea. Best, if you have a place to mount it, would be a water seperator type with a catch bowl. The smaller inlines work well. . . be sure it has a clear cover so you can see what is going on and an easily replaced filter element.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . . . <br />JB

My 1150 and 1500 have strainers in the pump. There a little lid with a screw in the middle that screws off. I also use an inline<br />filter as well.
