fuel filter spring...'84 Mercruiser 2.5/120

'84 Mercruiser 2.5/120 with original style tall Carter fuel pump with filter on top.....got new filter element and gasket took off bail to replace and the spring is missing.......cannot seem to find a listing for a replacement....(have never run engine in this condition)

Does anybody know of a part number or source?

If not, does anybody have dimensions (length and diameter) of the original so that I will have some chance to find a substitute?

All help is appreciated.....
