Good Morning oh wise group of mariners.
I know this may be covered already but here goes.
1975 Mercury 140 I/O.
If I add a fuel water seperator between the fuel tank and fuel pump, do I still need the filter in the pump as well as in the carb?

Thanks in advance!

Re: fuel filter question

Put new filters in the carb and pump. But you shouldn't have to replace them anymore unless you let the WSFF get too contaminated.

Re: fuel filter question

I don't know about the filter in the pump, but I know that the filter in the carb is useful. I have water separators/filters on my dad's boat and have seen gunk from the tank get through the water sep and get trapped by the carb filter.
