I have a mercruiser 5.0 chevy engine and it has a canister type fuel filter/water separator installed already. My question is do I need an additional inline filter in between the one I have and the carb? I just bought a new edelbrock intake and carb and I would like to keep it clean and running like new as long as possible. Do the canister filters really do well at filtering?

Howdy,

Which intake and model carb did you get?

Usually, the inline spin-on filter is more than adequate.

Re: Fuel filter question

I got the performer intake and 600cfm marine (of course) version performer carb.

Re: Fuel filter question

I would be more than happy to post some pics when I get finished. Hopefully all that is left is an engine alignment and put the outdrive back on and to tie up a few loose ends and then the wife will love me again. (long story) I kinda got a little rooked on this boat and have had to spend a lot of money and a lot more time than I had originally planned. Every man loves a good project and challenge though and I have learned a ton of useful information from this forum.
