Hi All,

On my lat trip out with my '74 9.9 the first day it had 1/3 power then after opening it up the engine sneezed and picked up a few more RPMs and speed another sneeze full RPMs and full power!!!

Today I was dumping the last dribbles of gas into a my waste oil tank so it won't go skunky. I noticed some black "scmhutz" pieces on the bottom ,it is a new 3 gallon tank and line so I'm thinking it was dirty fuel ,What about adding an in line fuel filter (automotive style).

Your thoughts???

I have done it with no problems. The only thing to think about is how weak the outboard fuel pumps are. I would recommend you change the filter every couple of years as once it starts to load up the pump won't be strong enough to pull gas. Make sure to use a metal cased filter as plastic would be easily broken. Best of luck. Rick.
