Hi

1988 Mercury 135 hp, V6 Black Max

When I changed the fuel filter, I discovered that the previous owner had mounted the fuel filter the wrong way, it was quite dirty inside the small filter cage when I opened it. I have had some issues at the top end rev, the motor will not reach top WOT range, can this have had any influence?

By the way, I mounted a Quicksilver filter.

If you get enough trash in a filter it will restrict fuel flow. So that may have been your problem.
