I've had a spin on fuel filter installed for several years with no problems. It is one with the clear cap and drain on the bottom. This week when the cartridge was replace the o-ring seal leaked. The cap and ring was inspected prior to assembly and after leak and no damage was seen. It was installed per instructions.

The replacement cartridge was the same brand and part # as the original. The replacement didn't include a new O-ring and the auto parts store doesn't have one of the same size. I put old cartridge on and it leaked at the same place too.

Any ideas?

Re: Fuel Filter Leaks

I have never heard of such a thing. New filters should always come with new seals. By OEM filters and you get an assortment of seals for both the filter and the drain assembly.

Auto parts store? Better check to make sure you even have the right filter. Should be 10 micron. Your typical 30 micron automotive filter is useless in preventing moisture problems.
