It unscrews, there is a rubber o-ring on the top of the bowl thats keeping it from unscrewing easily....it's not on there really tight. Hold the top plate of the filter steady, then wrap the bowl in something so you can get some grip and unscrew it with the other hand. It will come loose, like spinning off a old oil filter, hard at first but once it breaks free it's golden.
