Sorry for the long post...
1993 Mercury 75hp 2 stroke 3 cyl.
Couple weeks ago, the engine started the bog at high speeds after cruising for about 30 mins. Stopped and squeezed the primer bulb a couple times and it ran fine for the next few hours of fishing (spot hopping - engine was stopped and started several times). Then on the run back to the ramp it bogged down again at high speed after about 20 mins. Squeezing the primer once while running corrected the issue until I got to the ramp. Bulb still had fuel in it both times and was not flat.
First thought was the internal inline fuel filter, but after getting into the project, I noticed a buzzing sound coming from the anti-siphon valve when priming. The primer bulb also took a while to refill. Took the valve off to see if it was clogged, but it appears fine. I also blew some air through the pickup tube to clear out any debris that might have been in there - which is what I chocked up the issue to since the bulb filled quicker after this.
Took her back out yesterday and she ran fine for a couple short runs. I then left the engine off for a few hours and after starting again it idled for a few seconds and died - went to prime it and the bulb was completely empty. Primed it up again and ran great at high speed for a few minutes until it started to bog. Checked the primer bulb and it was totally empty again...? Primed it up and ran it hard up and down the river a few times at varying speeds with zero issues... and the primer bulb was still hard and full of fuel... It's really annoying that I can't seem to replicate the issue. I put all new fuel lines on it as well and there's no leaks or anything. F/W separator is also pretty new.
Anyone know what would cause these issues?
Thanks!
