Fuel comsumption

Hi there <br />I realise that this is very much a "how long is a piece of string" question but any help would be gratefully accepted.<br /><br />I have a Yamaha 4 metre inflatable with a yamaha 25 HP 4 stroke petrol motor. I have a 22 litre tank (about 5.8 US gallons & $.8 Imp gallons)<br /><br />Can anyone give any indication of fuel comsumption or is there a rule of thumb formula to work consumption out?<br /><br />Many thanks<br /><br />John

Hello, Not sure if this formula is true across the board, but I was once told as a ballpark. Use the horsepower to figure out gallons per hour at wide open throttle (WOT). For a 115hp motor it would be 11.5 gal per hour at WOT. 150hp 15.0 gal per hour. If this is correct I would guess 25hp would be 2.5 gal per hour at WOT. From what I figured with mine its pretty close. Hope that helps..
