Who here likes fruitcake? <br /><br /><br />I have never been a fan of it myself. <br />My mother used to make my brother and sister and myself eat it.....all because she made it. <br />That is no reason to force crap like that on me!

Re: Fruitcake

I had an aunt who used to make fruit cake with just about every liquer in the cabinet (this is over 30 years ago).... it would take your breath away! As a child we were not even allowed to have a full piece. A small taste would burn!

Re: Fruitcake

Yeah, I actually enjoyed my fruitcake lunch the other day. My mom made it. She usually tries to be too fancy with stuff, but this came out great. Didn't have any of those green and red things that nobody knows what they are. It had raisins, currants and a lot of nuts. Nuts do the trick for me . . .

Re: Fruitcake

How did it become a Christmas thing anyway. Is it because of the red and green chunks?

I like Johnny Carson's comment about fruit cake....<br /><br />"There's only 1 fruit cake in the entire world.....it just gets sent from one person to the next every year"

I am a fan. No one else in the family is though and they let me know about it to.

Fresh, warmed in the microwave with real butter.<br /><br />No canned stuff!<br /><br />Honestly I would rather have bannana nut bread though.

Re: Fruitcake

I challenge all of those living in the north east and claim they hate fruit cakes to go and visit a WEGMANS super market.Their bakery department where everything is baked fresh daily (Nothing stays overnight)makes art works out of fresh fruit while changing it into cakes. They are ordered ahead of time and made to the customer's special desires. They are popular at weddings and special family gatherings.<br />De first lady had one on airforce one just a few days ago for her birthday.

Re: Fruitcake

I think there are good ones and bad ones. If they're moist they are generally very good. I hated them as a kid because of the red and green chunks, but I actually like fruitcakes now.
