Frozen tilt tube

Hi

Edit: I maybe using the wrong terminology here: Basically the motor is stuck as is in the down position will not move an inch vertically at all. I am not actually sure if the motor pivots on that steering tube or not?

Wondering what the best way to address frozen tilt tube is? The motor will not go up or down with no steering attached. I dont see a zerk fitting on the tilt tube. I removed the steering bar and cleaned the inner tube. Do I need to remove the tilt tube or is there a way of freeing it without removing?

Hi

The steering ( the actual outboard with no steering attached ) on my outboard has gotton extremely stiff. Serious force needed to rotate outboard left or right (no steering attached pushing motor side to side by hand )

I posted this last year and was told to apply grease through the zerk fitting. Only getting around to this now. But was thinking should I unscrew the zerk fitting and apply a more liquidy fluid such as gear oil or penetrating oil first before the grease?

thanks

Ayuh,.... It sounds like you've got a severely corroded motor,....

My guess is, anything short of complete disassembly, cleanin', 'n reassembly is gonna come up short,....
