My friend gave me a JS 440 that was not running, and I have made it my project to get it to run. I have gone through the motor, it is good and will start up. The only thing that is holding me back is the shaft. It is frozen up, the impeller looks a little banged up but doesn't look like it is touching the wear ring. I don't know what to do with it... can anyone help advise me?

pull the pump off the ski and take it apart,, usually the liners swell and lock up the pump,, or the bearings are bad and frozen,, take the pump apart and see what the problem is,, www.jetkingparts.com is relining the pumps as far as I know the pumps were made to be thrown away if the liners went bad and that is expensive to replace,, the place I mentioned can reline the pumps without having to buy a new pump.

Thank you, I was not looking forward to taking it apart... but I did and it was the barrings and the impeller wasnt any good... So, now that it is good and running I am going to sell it and look for a 750... unless you suggest a better stand up ski for a free style ski.

Super Jet!
That would mean you would have to come over to the dark side though.
They are typically lighter than the comparible Kawis and can be thrown around easier for freestyle.
Nothing against Kawi, I have owned those also.
