front motor mount adjustment

I have put in a new gimbal bearing etc and am starting to align my engine. For the life of me I don't see a logical way to adjust my front mount height. The mounts have a large threaded rod vertically through them with a 1 1/16 nut and washer on top. There appears to be height adjustment possible by turning a nut below the mounting platform but there is a keeper in there that I don't see how to remove without jacking the block or picking it up. Since I don't have a cherry picker I am looking for ideas.

Re: front motor mount adjustment

you loosen the top nut after bending the retainers down, then use the lower nut to raise or lower it, then tighten the top one down and secure it with the locking tabs. Make sure you raise-lower the same on both sides...
